Business Studies

Business Studies continues to be a popular option both for GCSE and A'level; offering a highly relevant education for the school leaver.

In year 10 students can opt to take an elective two year OCR National qualification in Business Studies which is worth the equivalent of four GCSEs at grades A to C. Five periods a week will offer just enough time to cover off the six different coursework units, across two full years.

In the sixth form, students can study the AQA A-level in Applied Business Studies, which introduces them to key areas of Business Studies in a manner which is applied to real business situations. Two thirds of the qualification is coursework and there is just one AS and one A2 exam.

Would be year 12 students who don't have the five GCSE's required for taking A-Levels, have the option of taking an intensive one year OCR National Certificate in Business Studies, at the 6th form site, as an access qualification to A-Levels the following year.

Topics and units covered include: Investigating business, Finance, Enterprise & Operations, Sales Promotions and Customer Service.
